Stormwater Management Program Overview The Seis Lagos Utility District (SLUD) participates in a Stormwater Management Program to comply with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements for small MS4s (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems). The goal is to reduce pollutants in stormwater runoff and protect local waterways, including lakes and reservoirs that supply our drinking water. Stormwater is rainwater that flows over streets, yards, and driveways, picking up pollutants like oil, fertilizers, pesticides, and trash. Unlike wastewater, stormwater is not treated before entering creeks and lakes. That’s why community involvement is critical.
Why It Matters
Protects drinking water sources for Seis Lagos, Common of Camden, and Brockdale and other citizens who rely on Lake Lavon and other North Texas reservoirs..
Reduces flooding and erosion.
Maintains healthy ecosystems in local lakes and streams.
How Residents Can Help
Proper Disposal of Waste
Never dump oil, paint, or chemicals into storm drains.
Use household hazardous waste collection programs.
Yard Care
Limit fertilizer and pesticide use; follow label instructions.
Sweep grass clippings back onto your lawn instead of into the street.
Pet Waste
Pick up after pets and dispose of waste in the trash, not in storm drains.
Vehicle Maintenance
Fix leaks promptly to prevent oil and antifreeze from washing into drains.
Wash cars on grass or gravel, not on driveways.
Report Illicit Discharges
If you see someone dumping into a storm drain or creek, report immediately by calling SLUD at 972-442-6875.
