At the beginning of July SLUD experienced a drop in water pressure, affecting many residents' homes. This was caused by a PLC failure - A PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is specialised computer, designed for industrial services like water districts. These devices require uninterrupted power, and may experience failures when regions experience blackouts or weather related shortages. Our PLC helps to regulate water pressure to customers' homes, and experienced a failure likely due to the regional power outage, causing the pressure to decease. When failures occur SLUD's on-call operators receive alerts of an emergency and assist as soon as possible. Unfortunately, operators were not notified before residents were affected. In the future, SLUD's engineers and operators will be designing a system that more effectively alerts all personnel before residents experience issues. If you would like to stay up to date on wastewater and sewer plant upgrades, make sure to check up with our Board Meetings, Meeting Minutes, and Agendas. We will also publish any changes here on our website, in News and Notices > "Current Projects" and on our Newsletter which is mailed out along with monthly water bills. Thank you for your continued interest in our operations!
